Reading critically is key to academic success.
Students will read and analyze grade-appropriate text such as short stories, poems and other rich literary selections. Additionally, students in grades 7-9 will read and analyze expository (non-fiction) text. Each session will focus on a specific literacy skill followed by a writing task that reinforces that skill (e.g., response to literature or summarizing text). Opportunities for students to discuss text help them connect and make meaning out of the reading selections.
Mrs. Prell maintains high expectations and encourge students as they engage in rigorous academic work in reading and writing. Each small group is comprised of no more than seven individals grouped by grade level.

Students will be assigned one to one-and-a-half hours of practice between each session, unless other arrangements have been made.
Grade 5: Friday from 3:30-4:30pm
Grade 6-7: Saturday from 10:30-11:45am
Grade 8-9: Saturday from 2-3pm
Cost: $35 per session for five pre-paid sessions or $40 per pay-as-you-go session
