Writing Enrichment with Mrs. Prell / Ms. Briseno
Writing powerfully is key to academic and professional success.
Mrs. Prell and Ms. Briseno will guide students in practicing writing skills appropriate to their grade level. Emphasis is placed on communicating effectively through the written word. Focus on developing the seven traits of effective writing: Ideas, Organization, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, Writing Convention and Presentation assures growth as a writer. From prewriting to drafting, revising, editing and publishing, participants practice all steps of the writing process. Depending on the level, genres covered may include
- summarizing text;
- persuasive writing;
- narrative writing; and/or
- writing a personal or business letter.
One to one-and-a-half hours of practice will be assigned between sessions (unless other arrangements have been made). A maximum of seven students comprise each small group session. Students are grouped by grade level.
Days: Monday through Friday
Session Times: 3:30-4:30pm, 4:30-5:30pm, 5:30-6:30pm
Cost: $35 per session for five pre-paid sessions or $40 per pay-as-you-go session
